Beginning a journey to lose weight can be a challenging and emotional experience. In addition, it is possible to feel like you are doing everything correctly, but still not lose weight, which can be an extremely frustrating experience. At this point, you are probably staring angrily at your scale and wondering, "Why am I not losing weight?".
In an ideal world, one should be able to reduce caloric intake and observe a consistent loss of weight as a result, but the human body is significantly more complicated than that. When you are on a diet, it is completely normal for your weight to fluctuate as you move along the various stages of the diet. Try not to lose hope despite the fact that it may be frustrating.
Recognize habits that lead to weight gain
Try to make your goals SMART!
Specific – write down exactly what you are trying to achieve.
Measurable – use numbers or amounts where possible.
Achievable – there is no point in writing down a goal that you will never reach.
Realistic – your goal needs to be achievable and meaningful to you.
Time-bound – set a time frame for your goal and keep track of your progress.
You are eating less, but still picking unhealthy foods
Any diet that asks you to cut out protein, fat, or carbohydrates is one you should abandon. Your body requires specific amounts of all the nutrients listed above as well as the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fibre that are present in those foods. Weekend binges of junk food or unhealthy foods may be counterproductive to your efforts to lose weight. According to research, exercise may not be enough to significantly reduce weight without dietary changes.
You are not keeping track of what you’re eating
The majority of people who struggle to lose weight simply consume too many calories. How many calories you consume compared to how many calories you burn is a crucial aspect of weight loss. Although it might seem simple, you might be eating more than you realize if you aren’t keeping track of your daily caloric intake. A high protein diet can help you lose fluid from your body because protein digestion actually requires water.
You are not looking at the big picture
Keep in mind that the healthiest way to lose weight is to do so gradually by introducing manageable and incremental shifts in the ways in which you consume healthy food and engage in physical activity. You might find it helpful to give yourself one or two minor changes to work on at a time, and then wait to add to these until they have become ingrained in your new way of life.
You’re not sleeping well
If you haven’t gotten enough sleep, you won’t feel as motivated to work out or go to the gym. Sleep is not only necessary for preserving one’s levels of energy but also plays a role in the regulation of one’s fluid balance. It’s possible that you’re holding on to more body water because you’re not getting enough sleep. This could be one of the reasons why. Aim to get at least seven hours of restful sleep every single night. Be patient
You may simply require some time to adjust to your new diet and rate of fat loss. You can’t always control your hormones or your body’s reaction to dieting, but you can be consistent and wait for things to settle down. Be gentle with yourself; if things don’t go as planned, keep trying. You may need to revise your goals or the time required to achieve them. Consult with experts to develop holistic strategies that can help you find and maintain a healthy balance between the calories you consume and those you burn.
Lift weights
There are a lot of other things besides your weight that requires a lot more focus from you than your weight does. It’s important to remember that just because the number on the scale isn’t moving as quickly as you’d like it to doesn’t mean that you aren’t losing body fat or that you aren’t dieting properly. If your main objective is fat loss / weight loss and you’re exercising but not losing weight, there are other forms of exercise that offer much better value. Strength training in addition to cardio is the most effective way to burn fat and gain lean muscle. Your body will burn fat more efficiently the more muscle tone it has.
